Plumber - Job Summary

 As a Plumber, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This role covers water supply, drainage, gas, and heating systems, ensuring the functionality, safety, and efficiency of essential water and wastewater infrastructure. You will work both independently and as part of teams on new builds, renovations, and maintenance assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Connection: Install water supply systems, drainage pipes, sewerage systems, and gas lines, ensuring alignment and leak-free performance.
  • Fixture Fitting: Connect plumbing fixtures and appliances, including baths, basins, toilets, and hot water systems, in compliance with New Zealand building codes.
  • Diagnosis & Repair: Identify and resolve faults such as leaks, burst pipes, or low pressure using specialized diagnostic and leak-detection equipment.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Conduct pressure, leak, and flow tests to verify that all systems meet performance and safety standards.
  • Maintenance: Perform regular servicing, including cleaning traps, replacing worn components, and conducting preventive system checks.
  • Compliance: Complete Certificates of Compliance (CoC) and test reports as required by PGDB and regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Registration: Must hold and maintain a Plumbing Registration and practicing Licence issued by the Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying Board (PGDB) of New Zealand.
  • Experience: A recognized trade qualification OR a minimum of three (3) years of relevant practical plumbing experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of sanitary, drainage, and water supply systems, including blueprint interpretation and material handling (PVC, copper, PEX).
  • Safety: Full commitment to NZ health and safety regulations, including the use of appropriate PPE and safe waste disposal.
  • Requirements: High precision in measurements, physical fitness for confined spaces or variable weather, and a valid driver's license.
